To earn top honors for Georgia, Donald had to submit an application detailing his Scouting and personal achievements and write a 500 word essay about the American Revolution. Donald's essay was about how our forefathers used tactics borrowed from the Native Americans to lure the British to defeat. His application was submitted through the Mount Vernon Chapter of the GASSAR.

Donald earned his Eagle Scout Award on May 26, 2021 and has gone on to earn Bronze, Gold and Silver Palms. In addition to being active in his troop, he served as the Treasurer of the Echota Chapter of Egwa Tawa Dee Lodge of the Order of the Arrow. He is the son of Mary and Dan Eberly of Sandy Springs, Georgia.

Placing second in the annual competition was Lena Towne of Suwanee, GA. She is a member of BSA Troop 5109 in Sugar Hill and earned her Eagle Scout Rank in October 2020.

Donald Eberly was also the winner of the Chapter's King competition last year (2021) and was presented the SAR Eagle Scout medal at the Mount Vernon Chapter Annual Banquet in February 2022.
